If someone took a picture of my heart.

Four weeks ago, I ordered a Droid Incredible by HTC. For three and a half weeks, I was cool, calm, and patient. Sure, I was looking forward to it’s arrival, but the anticipation was manageable. Even fun. It was scheduled to arrive Tuesday.

It didn’t. Obviously. Or you would now be reading a post on how awesome my new phone is.

The acute disappointment with which I am now wrestling is only overshadowed by the acute shame that I feel at having been so excited over a freakin’ cell phone.

I mean, no one has died.  At least, I don’t think anyone’s death is the cause for the “warehouse delay.” In a rational world, the addition week of waiting for something as trivial as a cell phone is nothing. In crazy world, it’s a tragedy.

But it’s a special brand of disappointment that comes with technology. The disappointment of it not being everything you ever wanted. Of crappy battery life and poorly constructed menus. Of something cooler coming along a month later. But I can’t even GET to those disappointments yet. It’s all fairly pathetic.

I suppose I will console myself with my backup plan for fun: human interaction. It’s Friday. I’m going out now like all the regular, patient people that don’t get give a damn that their phone only makes calls.

Thanks! It's a disappointment only people who get together after work and discuss iPad apps for two hours could really understand. :)
